Gerald Swindle – 2007 Bass & Saltwater Fishing Expo
Lucky Craft Pro Finds Fans For New Lucky Craft Product
Swindle amazed by new Real Skin Pointer

COSTA MESA, Calif. (January 18, 2007) – Lucky Craft pro staff member Gerald Swindle attended the 2007 Bass and Saltwater Fishing Expo in Greensboro, N.C., and realized the old cliché is true – ‘you learn something new everyday.’

Swindle speaks at seminars across the country on a regular basis, talking to anglers and fans about various topics such as fishing, sponsorships and new products. On January 6 and 7, Swindle had the opportunity to speak in Greensboro at a fishing expo where he was explaining different fishing techniques while throwing various baits into a tank.

“At these shows, seminars are done every hour, so there are about six to eight speakers every day,” Swindle explained. “There are usually 20 to 30 bass in the tank for the public to look at, but when we try to catch them and explain various techniques, sometimes they don’t bite very well. You usually have to use a little bitty worm to get the fish to bite for the crowd to see.”

Getting the fish to bite had been a bit of problem for most during the show. Shaw Grigsby, 10 time Classic qualifier and TV host of “One More Cast,” was also giving seminars and, according to Swindle, didn’t have much luck either.

“I think Shaw spoke on Friday and maybe some on Saturday,” Swindle said. “I don’t think he caught much either – maybe one on a dropshot in his first seminar.”

Swindle’s first seminar on Saturday was going fair, as he found various topics to discuss, but the fish weren’t very cooperative – until he tied on a new product not yet available to the public.

“I had been throwing a couple Lucky Craft crankbaits and I did have some fish come up and look at it, but that was really it,” Swindle said. “That’s when I tied on the Real Skin Pointer (Chartreuse Shad). I still had about thirty minutes left in the hour-long seminar, so I thought I’d do a little jerkbait fishing for the fans and explain the importance of the action when fishing a jerkbait. I jerked twice and let it pause, and that’s right, I caught every fish in the tank. It was incredible.”

After seeing how well the bait worked in a tank full of bass that had been fished all day long, fans and anglers lined up to look at the new bait.

“When the seminar was over, the line was quite long to look at the bait,” Swindle said. “Not so much for my autograph, but a lot of people wanted to see this bait that caught every fish in the tank.”

Without a lot of knowledge on such a new product, Swindle couldn’t exactly explain the phenomenon that had occurred.

“I really don’t know much about it yet, but I do know it looks extremely real,” Swindle said. “With the real fish skin on the outside, it looks incredibly natural in the water.”

Some skeptics may think it was a fluke, but flukes don’t happen two days in a row. Swindle came back for another day of seminars, fishing in the same tank of bass, and caught them all again.

“On my second day, I was again struggling to get the fish to bite and I was running out of things to say – so I picked up the Real Skin Pointer again. People had been throwing various baits at these fish for days and for me to catch every fish in there again was just incredible. What a bait.”

The Real Skin Pointer has the same action as the popular Lucky Craft Pointer 78. Nothing has changed, except for the addition of the fish skin on the outside. The new product will not be available to the public for several months, and is scheduled to be formally released at ICAST 2007.
