Ehrler Just Misses 2nd Forrest Wood Cup,
Finishes 4th

Lucky Craft pro was trying to become first pro to win two Forrest Wood Cups

Lucky Craft pro Brent Ehrler was attempting to become the first pro to capture two Forrest Wood Cup victories.  Ehrler, who was leading going to the final day, was only able to weigh-in three bass and finished fourth with a four-day total of 46 pounds, 8 ounces.
Ehrler knew it was going to be a tough day.  He was concerned about the few number of bites he had been getting throughout the tournament.

“I was really worried around midmorning,” said Ehrler. “I’d been catching a couple key fish by about 9:30 each day, and when I didn’t have one at 10, I knew I was in trouble.

Ehrler focused on main-lake brush piles.  His main technique throughout the tournament was a drop-shop in 15 to 25 feet of water.

Ehrler used a green pumpkin Gary Yamamoto Senko and a plum berry Roboworm on his drop-shots.

Ehrler is a former Forrest Wood Cup champion and he wanted this second Cup more than any title he's ever pursued.

On the ride into the weigh-in from the lake, Ehrler knew he'd lost it and was extremely dissappointed.

"I was extremely bummed coming to the weigh-in," he said. "I was really, really bummed. I can't even tell you, I can't describe how bummed I was. I was very disappointed because I knew I didn't win. And I was very disappointed with how the day went. I just couldn't catch them.”

Ehrler was however excited for his roommate, fishing partner and eventual winner, Kevin Hawk.

"When I saw Kevin weigh in those fish, I got so excited for him. Kevin's a good buddy of mine. I wasn't as excited as if I had won, but I was so happy for him. That made the feeling better. And it's an awesome story, how he qualified through the West and moved out here (Lake Lanier). He's an awesome fisherman. We fished together on the Tour this year. Kevin, Brandon Hunter and I all roomed together this year."
