Pricing Products in a Category
You can set a single price for all the products in the same category. This is useful, for example, when a range of products fall in the same pricing range. You can use this to change the price for the whole group of products in one place instead of changing each product price individually.
To assign a single price to a group of products
- In Catalogs, click Catalog Editor.
- In the Catalogs screen, select the catalog that contains the product you want to price, and then click on the toolbar.
- In the Catalog - <Catalog Name> screen, in the Categories section, select the category that you want to price, and then click Edit.
- In the Catalog Editor - <Catalog Name> - <Category Name> screen, Category Properties section, type the price in the Price box.
- Click to save your change to the category and return to the Catalog - <Catalog Name> screen.
- In the Catalog - <Catalog Name> screen, in the Products section, select a product from the category you just priced, and then click Edit.
- In the Catalog Editor - <Catalog Name> (product) screen, in the Assigned Categories section, select the category that defines the price for this product from the list of categories in the Assigned Categories box, and then click Set Pricing.
The category name you selected appears in the Pricing category box, as shown in the following figure.
Click the illustration to enlarge or reduce.
To save the pricing and return to the Catalog screen, click on the toolbar.
Notes
- You must assign a pricing category for each item in the category that was assigned a price at the product level (steps 6 through 8). For example, if you assigned the product a price of $24.99 to an audio CD when you created it, and you want that CD to be in budget category of $20, you must assign that audio CD to the budget category in order for the new price to take effect.
- Assigning a price at the category level will override prices of all the products and product variants in that category.
